Intro

The performance Sonified Architecture is comprised of various elements that create a unique multisensory experience for the audience. Several aspects of what a live performance can touch - hearing, sight, intelligence - are engaged.

Sounds are generated with a self-built instrument which is inspired by the design of Sir Robert Matthew's tensegrity structure.

The sounds are amplified but also transformed with a bespoke processing effect that creates artificial spatialisation.

The setup is simple, clear and brings new and old technology and concepts together.

Gestural sound emerges from the interaction between performer and physical objects.

The performer uses an interface which gives the freedom to react solely based on what is heard, by mapping the results of his actions to sonic activity. This is something that the audience can perceive too because the physical actions of the performer can be related to the sound.
